Planning estimate

Defaults are illustrative assumptions. Replace them with observations from representative runs. Use a consistent treatment of tax and avoid counting the same cost twice.

Formula

Hours released = [reports × (old minutes − new minutes − review minutes) − maintenance minutes] ÷ 60.

Net monthly capacity value = hours released × hourly value − incremental monthly software cost.

Simple setup payback = setup cost ÷ positive net monthly capacity value. This ignores financing, tax, ramp-up and later change costs.
