Salesforce Hunter: the outbound sales agent in pilot, and what UK teams must check before it emails anyone

Salesforce Hunter product page introducing Hunter, the AI outbound sales agent in Sales Cloud

Salesforce Hunter is an AI outbound sales agent inside Sales Cloud that takes a sales goal, plans the work and pursues it over days, weeks or months. It is aimed at B2B sales teams already on Salesforce. As of 18 October 2026 Hunter is a pilot, not something you can buy: there is no published price, and Sales Cloud's Core, Advanced and Max editions cost £156 to £440 a user a month in the UK. Salesforce names no countries, so UK access is unconfirmed. Before Hunter emails anyone in the UK, PECR and UK GDPR decide who it may contact.

What is Salesforce Hunter?

Hunter is an AI agent, not a chatbot that answers once and stops. You give it a goal, such as "rescue our at-risk deals before quarter end". It turns that into a measurable target and builds a plan with tasks, a schedule and checkpoints where it must ask you first. You preview the plan before it starts.

It then finds accounts and contacts, writes personalised outreach, prepares follow-ups, updates opportunities and helps with proposals and forecasts. It asks for inbox access so it can email in your voice. If an email bounces, it finds another contact and asks before sending, as that departs from the plan.

Salesforce calls Hunter a "long-horizon" agent: it remembers context across sessions, keeps plans running and adapts to your feedback. It learns from CRM history, calls, emails, enablement content and approved third-party data. It runs inside Agentforce Coworker, Salesforce's AI assistant layer, explained in our Salesforce Agentforce guide. Its inbound sibling, Piper, is already on sale.

What's new with Salesforce Hunter in October 2026?

  • 15 October: ZoomInfo and Demandbase announced they are flagship data partners; Demandbase supplies intent data through its MCP server. Salesforce's Rohan Punamia told ZoomInfo: "No separate contracts are needed, ZoomInfo ships with Hunter out-of-the-box."
  • 13 October: Docusign said its agreement platform now works natively in Salesforce, Agentforce and Slack. Its release doesn't mention Hunter.
  • 12 October: Salesforce posted a short Hunter video.
  • 8 October: The ICO opened a call for evidence on agentic AI, closing 20 November 2026.

In September, Salesforce announced Hunter (11th), saying it builds 60% of customer Perk's pipeline, an unaudited claim. Apollo became a data partner on 15 September.

  • An admin to set permissions and approval rules.
  • Optional: Slack, Teams or Claude, to talk to Hunter outside Salesforce.

How do you get access?

As of 18 October 2026 there is no self-serve sign-up and no public pilot form. Salesforce's 11 September announcement says: "Pilot now; GA November '26." (GA means general availability.) Your routes:

  1. Ask your Salesforce account executive about the pilot.
  2. Use "Talk to an expert" on the Hunter page.
  3. Join the See Hunter in Action webinar from the same page.
  4. Or wait. Salesforce said November; October partner releases say only "later this year".

Get answers in writing: the price, whether UK orgs are in the pilot, which AI model processes your data and where, and the pilot terms. Salesforce itself says to buy on today's features, not promises.

How do you use Salesforce Hunter? First goals to try

Salesforce publishes no pilot instructions, so these are goals modelled on its own examples. Start with existing customers before cold prospects.

  1. Revive stalled deals: "Re-engage opportunities with no activity in 30 days. Ask me before every email."
  2. Prioritise the day: "Rank my accounts by buying signals and tell me who to call first."
  3. Build pipeline: "Find ten UK limited companies in logistics like our best customers. Draft outreach, send nothing."
  4. Forecast prep: "Summarise deals closing this quarter, with risks and next steps."
  5. Tidy the CRM: "Update opportunity stages from last week's call notes."

Is Salesforce Hunter safe? Privacy, security and UK GDPR

Hunter's controls look sensible. The real risk is an agent emailing people in your company's name.

Controls. Hunter works within your Salesforce permissions and approval rules. Its plan sets when it must ask; outreach can require rep approval; steps off the plan need sign-off; every action is logged.

Where data goes. Salesforce is the processor for your CRM data and you are the controller, so legal responsibility stays with you. Salesforce's Agentforce Privacy FAQ says it doesn't currently train generative models on customer data, and its AI providers keep none of it. Salesforce can host data in the UK, but the FAQ doesn't say where AI processing happens. Ask.

Third-party data. Contacts from ZoomInfo, Apollo or Demandbase become personal data you hold. As controller, you are responsible for checking what the agent sends.

Incidents. I found no reported Hunter incidents as of 18 October 2026, though pilots get little scrutiny. Our UK GDPR guide to AI agents covers DPIAs and controller duties.

What must a UK sales team check before Hunter sends outreach?

Cold B2B email is legal in the UK, within limits. Check these before sending, using the ICO's business-to-business marketing guidance:

  1. Who is the subscriber? PECR (the UK's electronic marketing rules) lets you email "corporate subscribers" such as limited companies, LLPs and Scottish partnerships without consent. Sole traders and ordinary English, Welsh and Northern Irish partnerships count as individuals and need consent or the soft opt-in. If unsure, treat them as individuals.
  2. UK GDPR still applies. A named work address is personal data. You need a lawful basis, usually legitimate interests, with a written test of purpose, necessity and balance. The Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 names direct marketing as an example of a legitimate interest but keeps the balancing test.
  3. Name yourself and offer an opt-out in every message. Keep a suppression list; an individual's objection is absolute.
  4. Say where you got their data. For vendor-sourced contacts, give privacy information in your first email or within one month, whichever is sooner.
  5. Public data isn't consent, and bought-in consent counts only if it named you; the soft opt-in can't cover bought-in lists, says the ICO's email guidance.
  6. You stay responsible. PECR covers whoever sends or instigates marketing, whatever tool does it.
  7. Calls: screen numbers against the TPS and CTPS.

The ICO says it can now fine up to £17.5 million or 4% of global turnover under PECR (June 2026). I would require approval for every first-touch email during any pilot.

Who should use Salesforce Hunter?

Hunter suits mid-size and large B2B teams on Sales Cloud, with clean CRM data, an admin, and buyers who are mostly limited companies.

Skip it if you sell to sole traders or consumers, aren't on Salesforce, or need an agent this month. Smaller firms should read our guide to AI agents for UK small businesses.

Frequently asked questions

Is Salesforce Hunter available in the UK?

Not confirmed. As of 18 October 2026, Salesforce Hunter is a pilot everywhere, and Salesforce names no countries for the pilot or for general availability. Sales Cloud and Agentforce are sold in the UK in pounds, so UK customers should ask their account executive whether they can join the Salesforce Hunter pilot.

How much does Salesforce Hunter cost?

Salesforce has not announced a price for Salesforce Hunter as of 18 October 2026, or said whether it will be bundled or metered. It runs on Sales Cloud, whose Core, Advanced and Max editions cost £156, £316 or £440 a user a month in the UK, billed annually. Get any Salesforce Hunter quote in writing.

When will Salesforce Hunter be generally available?

Salesforce's announcement on 11 September 2026 said general availability for Salesforce Hunter was planned for November 2026. Partner releases on 15 October give no month, only this year. Until then, Salesforce Hunter is a pilot, so treat dates as targets and expect features to change before launch.

Can Salesforce Hunter send emails without approval?

Salesforce Hunter can act on its own within the plan you approve, but you set the checkpoints. Salesforce says outreach can require rep approval, steps that depart from the plan need sign-off, and every Salesforce Hunter action is logged. For UK outreach, requiring approval for every first email is the safer setting.

Is it legal to use an AI SDR for cold email in the UK?

Yes, with conditions. An AI SDR (sales development rep) such as Salesforce Hunter can email limited companies without consent under PECR, if every message names you and offers an opt-out. Sole traders need consent or the soft opt-in. Named work emails are personal data, so UK GDPR legitimate interests and a balancing test apply.

What is the difference between Salesforce Hunter and Piper?

Salesforce Hunter is the outbound agent: it finds prospects and contacts them, and it is still a pilot. Piper is Salesforce's inbound agent: it works inbound leads across websites and inboxes, and Salesforce lists it as generally available. Salesforce Hunter is also the first agent on Salesforce's long-horizon runtime, built for multi-week goals.
