Microsoft sells AI agents in two places. The Agent Store sits inside Microsoft 365 Copilot and Teams, where staff add agents from Microsoft and partners such as Adobe and Miro. Microsoft Marketplace, which replaced AppSource and Azure Marketplace in 2025, is the wider catalogue where IT teams buy them. Many agents are free, but the best ones need Copilot, from £16.10 a user a month plus VAT. For a UK small business on Microsoft 365, the Agent Store is the one to use. I rate it 4 out of 5.

What is the Microsoft Agent Store?
The Agent Store is a curated catalogue inside Microsoft 365 Copilot. It holds agents built by Microsoft, by partners and by people in your own organisation. You browse, install and try them in Copilot, Teams and m365copilot.com, and the store suggests agents based on what you do.
Microsoft Marketplace is the shop behind it. In September 2025 Microsoft merged Azure Marketplace and AppSource into one store for cloud software, AI apps and agents. Copilot agents listed there also show up in the Agent Store. When an admin buys an agent, Microsoft provisions it through the Microsoft 365 admin centre under the organisation's own rules.
So which one would a UK small business use? The Agent Store. It is where your staff already work, and free agents install from there. You only need Microsoft Marketplace when an agent has a paid subscription, when you want Azure-hosted software, or when you buy through a Microsoft partner.
Who owns the Microsoft Agent Store?
- Both stores are run by Microsoft Corporation. It has no parent company.
- Satya Nadella is chairman and chief executive.
- Headquarters: Redmond, Washington.
- Microsoft is listed on Nasdaq under the ticker MSFT.
- The Agent Store launched on 22 May 2025, around Microsoft Build. Microsoft Marketplace launched on 25 September 2025.
How popular is the Microsoft Agent Store?

- Microsoft 365 Copilot passed 30 million paid seats, according to Satya Nadella in July 2026.

Hidden costs
- A Microsoft 365 plan first. Copilot Business is an add-on for existing Microsoft 365 Business customers, for up to 300 users. It needs an annual commitment, and the £13.80 offer price applies to the first year only.
- Metered agents. Copilot Chat users can use agents built by their organisation, but that use is metered. Copilot Studio credits cost £153.80 per 25,000 a month, and the pay-as-you-go option needs an Azure subscription. API calls are charged on top.
- Partner subscriptions. Many partner agents need the partner's own paid product. The Coursera agent needs a Coursera for Business licence, the Miro agent needs a Miro account and Acrobat's premium tools need an Acrobat subscription.
- VAT. Microsoft's UK prices exclude VAT.

Selling your agent on the Microsoft Agent Store
- Who can list: Any organisation that joins the Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program and accepts the Publisher Agreement in Partner Center. Agent publishers also activate the Microsoft 365 and Copilot program.
- Approval: Agents must pass Microsoft's Agent Store validation. They must add value beyond Copilot itself, meet response time and uptime targets, label AI-generated content, ask permission before consequential actions and resist attempts to override their instructions.
- Charging: Paid Microsoft 365 agents are sold through a linked SaaS offer, which also needs the Microsoft Marketplace program.
- Commission: A 3% standard store service fee on transactable offers. Listing is free.
- Getting paid: Payouts are monthly once sales reach $50 (about £38). Card payments are held for an extra 30 days to check for chargebacks.
What other people rate it
- I could not find a G2, Capterra or Trustpilot rating for the Agent Store or Microsoft Marketplace themselves.
- Trustpilot rates Microsoft as a company 1.2/5 from 4,081 reviews (checked 16 October 2026).
- Listings carry their own ratings inside the store. Miro shows 4.8 from 13,471 ratings, TeamsMaestro 4.6 from 2,153 and Adobe Acrobat 4.1 from 77,331 (checked 16 October 2026).
What's good
- Agents appear where staff already work: Copilot, Teams and m365copilot.com.
- Microsoft's validation rules are strict, covering response times, AI labels, citations and confirmation before an agent acts.
- Listings spell out what an agent can access, such as whether it can send data over the internet or read details in the open message.
- UK prices are shown in GBP, with VAT clearly excluded.
- The catalogue includes agents from well-known brands such as Adobe, Asana, Miro and Workday.
What's not so good
- Two stores with overlapping catalogues make it hard to know where to look.
- Metered agents use Copilot Credits, which are hard to predict, and pay-as-you-go needs an Azure subscription.
- Many partner agents only work with a paid subscription to the partner's own product.
- UK-based processing for Copilot has slipped from the end of 2025 to the end of 2026.
- The cheaper Copilot Business price is a first-year offer.
Who is it for?
Use it if your business already runs on Microsoft 365 and Teams. The Agent Store is the simplest way for a UK small business to add ready-made agents, and many of the best ones are free once you have Copilot.
Skip it if you work in Google Workspace, or if you want agents without paying for a per-user Copilot licence.
Using it in the UK
- Both stores work in the UK. Microsoft Marketplace has a UK English version, and Microsoft's UK site shows Copilot prices in GBP excluding VAT.
- Microsoft says Copilot may not be available in every market or language, but it sells Copilot Business to UK customers directly.
- Microsoft promised in-country data processing for Copilot in the UK by the end of 2025. An April 2026 update moved local processing of Copilot prompts in the UK to the end of 2026.
- Partner agents send data to the partner. Listings warn when an app can send data over the internet, and they point to the partner's privacy policy. Check it before you install.
- You need a Microsoft 365 work account. Admins approve and deploy agents through the Microsoft 365 admin centre.
Interesting facts about the Microsoft Agent Store
