The other plans: Free £0, Go £7, Pro from £89, and Business £15 a seat billed yearly or £18 monthly, for two or more users. OpenAI's UK pricing page does not say whether these prices include VAT.

How much is ChatGPT Plus in the UK, and what do the other plans cost?
ChatGPT Plus is £20 a month in the UK, and the cheapest paid plan, Go, is £7. Those are the prices OpenAI's pricing page showed a UK visitor on 29 October 2026, in pounds, with no tax note.
I checked the page from a UK connection. The screenshots on this page were taken in an ordinary browser in the UK, exactly as the page appeared, cropped but otherwise unchanged.
| Plan | UK price a month | Billing | Best for, in OpenAI's words |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | £0 | n/a | "Best for trying out ChatGPT" |
| Go | £7 | Monthly only | "Best for longer conversations"; "may include ads" |
| Plus | £20 | Monthly only | "Best for advanced work and productivity" |
| Pro | From £89 | Monthly only | "Best for research and coding"; three usage tiers |
| Business, Standard seat | £18 monthly, or £15 a month billed yearly | Monthly or yearly | "Best for everyday work" |
| Business, Premium seat | £90 monthly, or £75 a month billed yearly | Monthly or yearly | "5x more usage than standard, with no 5-hour limit" |
| Enterprise | Custom pricing | Contract | Contact sales |

Pro is the only plan with a range. OpenAI's help centre lists three Pro tiers, Pro 100, Pro 200 and Pro 500, at $100, $200 and $500 a month in the US, and the UK page shows only "From £89". It does not list a pound price for the two higher tiers. The UK App Store does, as in-app purchase prices: £88.90 for Pro 100, £200 for Pro 200 and £444.99 for Pro 500, on 29 October 2026. These are Apple's App Store prices, not OpenAI's web prices, and may differ from what you pay on chatgpt.com, where Pro 100 is £89.
Plus has no yearly option. The help centre says OpenAI does not support "annual billing or the option to pay for multiple months in advance" for Go, Plus or Pro. So a year of Plus costs £240.

Do ChatGPT's UK prices include VAT?
OpenAI does not say. Its UK pricing page shows pounds but carries no wording about VAT or tax, either under the plan cards or in its FAQ, as of 29 October 2026.
The help centre does not settle it either. Its multi-currency billing article lists pounds (GBP) as the currency for the United Kingdom and says UK and EEA buyers can pay by bank debit through Link where supported. It says nothing about whether the pound prices include VAT. The Plus help article links to a separate article on VAT exemption requests, and the Go article to one on adding a Tax ID or VAT ID.
Compare that with Anthropic. Its UK pricing page says "Prices include 20% VAT" under the plan cards, which is why my Claude pricing guide can quote Claude Pro at £18 including VAT. For ChatGPT, I can only quote £20 as shown. Look at the total on the checkout screen before you confirm, and keep the receipt if you plan to reclaim VAT.
What does each ChatGPT plan include?
Each step up buys more usage of the same tools rather than a different product. Free and Go cover everyday chat; Plus adds OpenAI's stronger models, Codex and ChatGPT Work across devices; Pro adds the most usage and Dots, OpenAI's always-on agent.
- Free, £0: unlimited everyday text chats "subject to abuse guardrails", with limited uploads, image creation, voice, deep research, memory and Codex. ChatGPT Work is limited to the desktop app.
- Go, £7: everything in Free with more messages with tools, more uploads, more images, more voice and longer memory. OpenAI says the plan "may include ads", and its help centre says ads are being tested with eligible Go users in select regions.
- Plus, £20: adds OpenAI's advanced reasoning models, projects, scheduled tasks and custom GPTs, expanded Codex use, and ChatGPT Work on desktop, web and mobile. OpenAI adds "Limits apply".
- Pro, from £89: a choice of three usage tiers, Pro reasoning powered by GPT-6 Astra, longer Codex and Work sessions, Dots, unlimited and faster image creation, and "Up to £445 in monthly API credits".
The comparison table on the same page adds two numbers that matter if you paste in long documents. Plus has a 54K-token context window for quick answers and 256K for reasoning, which OpenAI puts at roughly 40 and 320 pages of text. Pro has 128K and 400K, roughly 250 and 680 pages. Free gets 27K for quick answers.
Pro's API credits scale with the tier: £89 with Pro 100, £200 with Pro 200 and £445 with Pro 500 a month, according to the UK page. OpenAI says "Activation and eligibility requirements apply" and unused credits expire at the end of each billing cycle.
On privacy, the page marks every personal plan, Free to Pro, as "Opt-out available" for training on your content. Business does not train on your business data by default. My guide Is ChatGPT private? shows how to switch training off.
Which models come with ChatGPT Plus?
Plus gets OpenAI's newest models, with lower limits than Pro, though OpenAI's help centre says some of them run only in ChatGPT Work and Codex, not in ordinary chat. On the UK page's comparison table, Plus has a tick for GPT-6.1 Sol, GPT-6 Astra, GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna, and Pro has "Expanded" use of each. The same table also ticks GPT-5.6 Sol, GPT-5.6 Terra and GPT-5.6 Luna for Plus. It lists GPT-5.6 Terra, not GPT-6.1 Terra.

The names are confusing, so here is what OpenAI's help centre says about each, as of 29 October 2026:
- GPT-6 in chat is powered by GPT-6 Sol for the Instant, Medium, High and Extra High thinking levels. Of the thinking levels, Plus gets Medium and High; Extra High is on Pro, Business and Enterprise.
- GPT-6 Pro, powered by GPT-6 Astra, is in chat for Pro 100, Pro 200, Business and Enterprise. Plus gets Astra only inside ChatGPT Work and Codex, with limited use.
- GPT-6.1 Sol and GPT-6.1 Terra: the ChatGPT Work and Codex article lists GPT-6.1 Sol, GPT-6.1 Terra, GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna as models for ChatGPT Work and Codex, "not available in regular ChatGPT conversations". GPT-6.1 Sol has a default context window of 500,000 tokens there. The GPT-6 models article says GPT-6.1 Terra "is not available in Chat", but also says GPT-6 Sol powers GPT-6 in chat.
- GPT-5.6 Sol, Terra and Luna remain available. Help articles say GPT-5.6 Luna is becoming the default for Free and Go and that Go's Think option uses it too, while the pricing table ticks GPT-6 Luna for those plans. The models article adds that Terra and Luna are "not selectable in standard ChatGPT conversations"; depending on your plan, they are in Work and Codex.
For coding, Codex is "Limited" on Free and Go, ticked on Plus and "Expanded" on Pro. Pro 500 is the only personal tier with Ultrafast mode, which, for GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol, uses your included allowance at eight times the Standard rate. My OpenAI Codex guide covers what Codex does and how its limits work, and Codex vs Claude Code compares it with Anthropic's tool.
ChatGPT Business pricing per seat
ChatGPT Business costs £15 a seat a month billed yearly or £18 billed monthly for a Standard seat, as of 29 October 2026. A Premium seat is £75 or £90. Business is for teams of 2 to 200, so the smallest team pays £30 a month on yearly billing or £36 monthly.

You can mix seat types in one workspace. Every seat gets ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work and Codex, connectors for Google Workspace, Slack, GitHub and Microsoft 365, SAML single sign-on, central billing and "No training on your business data by default". Premium seats add Dots and five times the usage, and the workspace gets up to £445 a month in API credits.
Enterprise has no published price. OpenAI's FAQ says nonprofits can get up to 75% off Business or Enterprise through OpenAI for Nonprofits. For what a whole AI set-up costs a small firm, see how much AI agents cost in the UK.
Is ChatGPT Plus worth it?
Is ChatGPT Plus worth it? Yes, if you use ChatGPT for work most days or want Codex and ChatGPT Work. No, if you ask a few questions a week: Free now gives unlimited everyday text chats, and Go at £7 covers more uploads and images.
This is my editorial view from OpenAI's published plan details and prices, not from a test. Three things decide it.
- How often you hit the Free limits. Free's limits bite on uploads, images, voice and deep research, not on plain chat. If you never see a limit message, Plus adds little.
- Whether you need the stronger models. Plus is where GPT-6 at Medium and High thinking arrives in chat, along with GPT-6.1 Sol and limited GPT-6 Astra in ChatGPT Work and Codex. For drafting, analysis or code that matters, that is the real upgrade.
- What else you already pay for. Google AI Pro and Microsoft 365 Premium both cost £18.99 and come with storage or Office apps. If you already pay for one, a second £20 assistant may not earn its keep.
The weak points are plain. Plus is the dearest main tier of the big four in the UK. It has no yearly discount, against £180 a year for Claude Pro. And OpenAI does not say whether £20 includes VAT, which matters to anyone budgeting to the penny or reclaiming it.
Where Plus is strongest is breadth: one subscription covers chat, voice, images, projects, scheduled tasks, custom GPTs, Codex and Work. If you would otherwise juggle two tools, that breadth may justify the extra £1-£2.

ChatGPT Plus vs Claude, Gemini and Copilot prices in pounds
The four main assistants cost within £2 of each other in the UK. As of 29 October 2026, Claude Pro is £18 including VAT, Google AI Pro and Microsoft 365 Premium £18.99, and ChatGPT Plus £20.
| Assistant | Cheapest paid tier | Main tier | Yearly option | VAT on the page |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT (OpenAI) | Go, £7 | Plus, £20 | No | Not stated |
| Claude (Anthropic) | Pro is the entry tier | Pro, £18 | Yes, £180 a year | "Prices include 20% VAT" |
| Gemini (Google) | Google AI Plus, £4.49 | Google AI Pro, £18.99 | Not shown | Not stated |
| Copilot (Microsoft) | Microsoft 365 Personal, £8.49 | Microsoft 365 Premium, £18.99 | Yes, £84.99 or £189.99 a year | Not stated |

Over a year the gap widens. Twelve months of Plus is £240. Claude Pro paid yearly is £180, Microsoft 365 Premium paid yearly £189.99, and Google AI Pro £227.88 at its monthly price. At the top end, ChatGPT Pro starts at £89, against £90 for Claude Max 5x and from £79.99 for Google AI Ultra.
For teams, a ChatGPT Business Standard seat at £15-£18 is cheaper than a Claude Team Standard seat at £18-£22.50 including VAT, though again OpenAI does not state VAT. My ChatGPT vs Claude vs Gemini vs Copilot comparison covers which one suits which kind of user, and the UK AI price tracker follows these prices month by month.
How to pay less for ChatGPT
The cheapest route to ChatGPT is to stay on Free until you hit a limit you care about, then step up one plan at a time.
- Try Go before Plus. At £7 it lifts the Free limits on uploads, images and memory. Upgrade only if you need the advanced models, Codex or Work.
- Mind the App Store. On 29 October 2026 the UK App Store listed Plus at £19.99 and Go at £6.99, a penny under the web. The catch: you then cancel and claim refunds through Apple, not OpenAI.
- Pay yearly only on Business. It is the one ChatGPT plan with a yearly price, saving £3 a seat a month.
- Charities should ask about the nonprofit discount of up to 75% on Business and Enterprise.
How do you cancel a ChatGPT subscription?
To cancel a ChatGPT subscription bought on chatgpt.com, go to Settings, then Billing, and select Cancel under Cancel plan. Cancel where you bought it: Apple and Google Play subscriptions are cancelled in those stores. These are the steps in OpenAI's help article, checked on 29 October 2026.
On the web (chatgpt.com):
- Sign in to ChatGPT.
- Open your account menu and select Settings.
- Select Billing.
- Under Cancel plan, select Cancel.
On an iPhone or iPad (App Store purchase):
- Open the Settings app.
- Select your name.
- Select Subscriptions.
- Select ChatGPT.
- Select Cancel Subscription.
- Confirm your cancellation.
On Android (Google Play purchase), signed in to the Google account you used to subscribe:
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Open Subscriptions.
- Select ChatGPT.
- Select Cancel subscription.
- Follow the instructions to confirm your cancellation.
For a self-service ChatGPT Business subscription:
- Sign in to ChatGPT.
- Open your account menu and select Workspace settings.
- Select Billing.
- Select Manage plan.
- Select Cancel subscription.

Four details from the same article save money:
- Cancel at least 24 hours before your next billing date to avoid being charged for the next subscription period.
- After you cancel, paid features stay until the end of the period you have paid for.
- Uninstalling the app does not cancel anything. Deleting your ChatGPT account cancels a subscription billed directly by ChatGPT, but not an Apple one; for Google Play, check the store subscription and cancel it there.
- Cancelling does not refund past charges. For web and Google Play purchases you ask OpenAI Support for a refund; for App Store purchases you ask Apple.
If you only want to spend less, you can switch from Plus or Pro to Go instead. The Go help article says your current plan runs to the end of the billing cycle and you then pay the Go rate, with no refund for the switch.
